Abstract:

The use of smart tourism technologies as a result of Industry 4.0 in accommodation businesses is becoming more widespread. Considering the wishes and demands of the guests, accommodation businesses that want to increase their guests‘ satisfaction levels have started to use these technologies in their businesses and to ensure that their guests experience the comfort of their homes in their own businesses. Moreover, managers who have knowledge about the benefits of smart tourism technologies aim to provide a better service by keeping these technologies in their businesses. Therefore; in this thesis, it is aimed to contribute to the literature by determining the level of use of smart tourism technologies of accommodation businesses and examining whether the benefits of these technologies differ according to some demographic and professional characteristics of participants and some organizational characteristics. For this purpose, the research area has been determined as Antalya province. This research was conducted by collecting data with quantitative research method from 153 accommodation businesses consisting of four-star and five-star hotels and five-star holiday villages which obtained tourism operation licence from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The data were collected in Antalya in May 2019 using convenience sampling and quota sampling methods. Differences were tried to be revealed by applying difference analyses to the collected data.

As a result of the analysis of the research data, it was found that the participants had the perception that smart tourism technologies would increase the room sales and the image of the accommodation business and save time at a high level. In addition, it is concluded that middle and upper level managers in accommodation businesses have knowledge of the internet of things and artificial intelligence technologies, but do not intend to use them in their businesses and they are already using mobile communication and cloud computing technologies. In the semantic differential analysis applied, it was found that the levels of perception of participants about the benefits of smart tourism technologies differed according to the department, position, type and class of the businesses they work in. Moreover, as a result of analysis aimed to determine whether there is a statistically significant difference; differentiation of the perception levels of participants about the benefits of smart tourism technologies according to the department, type, class and ownership status of the businesses they work in is another important finding of this research. It is thought to contribute to the literature by evaluating the obtained data. As a result of this research, the outcomes for academia and practitioners were discussed in detail and suggestions were made for future researches.
