Rather than perceiving migration movements as temporary processes to be managed, a sustainable
migration policy adopts a fair and balanced approach that takes into account the long-term interests of
both migrants and host societies. Such a policy aims to ensure the integration of migrants while
safeguarding environmental and social resources alongside their economic contributions. However,
migration management and sustainable migration policies require a holistic framework that
incorporates a gender dimension. The social, economic, and political integration of women migrants is
of critical importance not only for individual well-being but also for strengthening democratic
participation and social sustainability. Indeed, through legal regulations, regular migration programs,
and gender-sensitive strategies, supporting women migrants within a rights-based framework and
institutionalizing gender equality constitute essential components of a sustainable migration policy.
In this regard, the study aims to examine the impact of sustainable migration policy on migration
management through the lens of gender, and to reveal its political implications based on inclusive and
long-term strategies aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Within the scope of the
study, fundamental principles such as social sustainability, economic development, human rights,
gender equality, and environmental sustainability are discussed to analyze the relationship between
sustainable migration policy and the SDGs. Specifically, the study focuses on Goal 5, “Gender
Equality,” and Goal 10, “Reduced Inequalities,” to explore the role of women migrants social and
political integration in achieving sustainable development. In conclusion, a gender-oriented
sustainable migration policy contributes significantly to maximizing the social and economic benefits
of migration, enhancing women’s active participation in political and public life, and advancing the
realization of the SDGs.
