Sönmez Karapınar and Çifçi (2026) examined the effects of consumer innovativeness and product selection attributes on purchase intention toward environmentally friendly cleaning products. Data were collected through an online survey of 425 consumers residing in Türkiye. The study investigated four dimensions of consumer innovativeness—functional, hedonic, cognitive, and social innovativeness—along with three product selection attributes: price, quality, and brand. Regression analysis results indicated that both overall consumer innovativeness (β = 0.479) and product selection attributes (β = 0.503) were positive and statistically significant predictors of purchase intention. Among the dimensions of consumer innovativeness, cognitive innovativeness (β = 0.474) emerged as the strongest predictor, while perceived quality (β = 0.559) had the strongest effect among the product selection attributes. The findings suggest that purchase intention toward environmentally friendly cleaning products is associated with consumers' tendencies to seek and evaluate information about innovations, as well as their perceptions of product quality, price, and brand characteristics. The study emphasizes the importance of providing consumers with relevant product information, highlighting product performance, and communicating reliable product attributes in the development of green marketing strategies.
The significance of this study lies in its contribution to the sustainable consumption and green marketing literature by providing empirical evidence on purchase intention toward environmentally friendly cleaning products within the framework of consumer innovativeness and product selection attributes. Examining the functional, hedonic, cognitive, and social dimensions of consumer innovativeness alongside price, quality, and brand attributes contributes to a better understanding of the roles of individual motivations and product-related evaluations in shaping purchase intention toward environmentally friendly products. The findings indicate that cognitive innovativeness and perceived quality are the strongest predictors within their respective variable groups, highlighting the importance of consumers' tendencies to seek and evaluate information, as well as their expectations regarding product performance. In this respect, the study contributes to understanding consumer behavior toward environmentally friendly cleaning products while also providing empirical insights that businesses can consider when developing product development, marketing communication, and positioning strategies.
