Abstract

Among renewable energy sources, wind and solar energy have the great potential for generating sustainable energy. In wind and solar energy systems, many data mining methods have been employed for different objectives, such as modeling, monitoring, diagnostics, prediction, etc. The k-nearest neighbor algorithm is considered as one of the top ten algorithms in data mining. Therefore, in this paper, we have focused on its applications particularly in wind and solar energy systems. As a result of comparing various studies, it has been observed that the k-nearest neighbor classifier is well-suited for the applications in wind and solar energy systems.
