Alternative innovative finishing processes and methods in textile finishing processes are now very attractive for the finishers. As a result of this, several different technologies and chemicals have been tested for this purpose. In this regard ultrasonic energy can present different opportunities to the scholars. In this study, it was aimed to shape the effect of ultrasound in desizing of cotton fabrics with glucoamylase enzymes. For this purpose studies were managed in two steps. Firstly, to show the effect of ultrasonic energy in wet processes, cotton fabrics were treated with and without ultrasonic energy at different temperatures and durations. In this step the bath pH was set to 4.5 which is optimum pH for the processing of glucoamylase enzyme. In the second part of the study the glucoamylase based desizing processes were conducted in ultrasonic baths at different durations and temperatures. Meanwhile the conventional desizing processes were carried out to ensure a reference to compare the results obtained with the use of ultrasonic energy. Finally, it was observed that ultrasound has a positive effect on desizing of cotton fabrics with glucoamylase enzymes.
