Abstract

The importance of energy can not be ignored if human life can be maintained. In today's world, it is also important that the energy required in each area is of good quality. Energy quality; is defined as the change in the voltage amplitude and the rated value of the frequency of the energy produced by any source up to the end user, the protection of the sinusoidal wave pattern and being able to take it steadily and continuously. In parallel with the development of technology, appliances used in houses and industry include more and more electronic hardware. These devices are detrimental to the quality of energy; on the one hand, they are also more sensitive to the quality of the energy they feed. Non-linear loads, currents and stresses caused sinusoidal distortions due to increased energy use. These negativities are known as harmonic distortion. In this report, the factors affecting the energy quality and the effects of the factors were investigated. In the scope of the report, energy quality is measured by connecting HT PQA824 energy analyzer to the outlet of the transformers in a textile factory which produces Open-End yarn in Kahramanmaraş. The concept of harmonic and flicker, which are the most important parameters affecting energy quality, has been investigated in detail in the research. The results of the investigations; in terms of harmonics; voltage harmonic values exceed 5% levels and will be problematic for total harmonic distortion. Change of total harmonic current is between 14% and 23%. Although the flicker levels Plt and Pst are generally within the limit value, overrides due to sudden load changes have been observed. Every consumer wants to have a pure sinusoidal form of energy. However, this is unlikely due to nonlinear loads, motor drivers, power electronic components in plant. The solution is that the problem will cease when every consumer filters out the harmful effects of their own sinusoidal form.
