History Studies, vol.17, no.1, pp.163-185, 2025 (Scopus)
This study is about the Leninakan Consulate, one of the consulates established between the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and Türkiye in accordance with the Treaty of Kars in 1921. Information about the consulate, which operated between 1925 and 1938, was obtained from the State Archives Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Turkish Diplomatic Archive, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Atatürk Library Archive, periodicals and copyrighted and researched works. The developments in the Leninakan Consulate within the boundaries of the research and the notes sent reflect the developments, changes and policies in the fields of politics, trade and diplomacy between Soviet Russia and Türkiye. When viewed from an integrative perspective, it is understood that trade gained momentum in periods when friendly relations developed. From the import and export tables of the period, it is noticed that Türkiye exported agricultural and agricultural products over Soviet Russia's industrial products. On the other hand, it is understood that nationalism bigotry on the border line is sometimes prioritized by local administrators in the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic. The Leninakan Consulate also appears to have handled the procedures of American citizens in Soviet Russia.
