Hydrogen peroxide and ozone, whose oxidizing features are well-known, are the two important bleaching agents. Especially use of hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizing agent in conventional textile pretreatment processes to bleach the cotton fabrics is very common. Conventional hydrogen peroxide bleaching recipes contains various chemicals and for the sufficient bleaching effect higher temperatures and/or durations are needed. The intensive use of chemicals in bleaching increases the waste water load and generally these processes consume significant amounts of energy. In this study cotton fabrics were pretreated with different ozonehydrogen peroxide combinations and the coloration of the bleached fabrics were conducted by the use of selected natural dye sources. Finally it was observed that ozone-hydrogen peroxide combination can be an alternative for the bleaching of cotton fabrics and the selected natural dye sources can be used for the coloration of the cotton fabrics.
