In this study, the influence of end mill helix angle, cutting speed and feed rate on temperature and surface roughness was investigated experimentally when end milling Ti6Al4V alloy. Three different coated solid carbide end mills of 8 mm diameter having 30º, 45º and 60º helix angles were used as the cutting tools. All the end mills had 4 flutes. The end milling tests were carried out at three different cutting speeds of 10, 20 and 30 m/min and at three different feed rates of 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15 mm/tooth. The axial depth of cut and radial depth of cut were kept constant at 14 mm and 0.5 mm, respectively. The end milling test design was accomplished using Taguchi’s L9 orthogonal arrays. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) was also employed to determine the level of the effect of control factors for the temperature and surface roughness. By using the singal/noise ratios, the optimum values of the control factors were found to be at different levels for the temperature and surface roughness. The results showed that showed that the end mill helix angle was the most significant kontrol for the temperature and surface roughness.
